Why did NFL outlaw the “4-man wedge” technique in blocking in Fall 2009?
You see this after the receiver catches a ball after a kickoff, and then, he allows 4 blockers to interlock their arms to create a “four man wedge” to try to ward off approaching defensive tacklers. Now, new NFL rules prohibit this offensive technique by the receiving team in special teams during kickoffs. Why?
